Yesterday I came home with a new gun, a Savage Mark II-G, chambered in .22LR. It cost me a paltry $199.

I took it shooting today, and I am super impressed with it. I cannot stress how awesome the accutrigger is - it came with the minumum adjustable pull from the factory (2.5lbs, I believe), and is probably the nicest trigger I have played with yet. I now understand the reason for the blade release - without it, it would be easy as hell to trip the trigger by mistake. It has a ten round detachable mag, and this model has a walnut stock with irons sights and the reciever dovetailed to accept scope rings. It cycles nice and smooth, and had no problems feeding both CCI standard velocity and minimags. It's feels solid as fuck, weighs about 5lbs, is far more accurate than I am, and since it's a .22, there is no felt recoil whatsoever.
The two best targets:

I shot the 25yd target unsupported with no sling, and the 50yd target resting on a block of wood. Nothing special, but I am a terrible shot to begin with. I think eventually I am going to put a scope and bipod on, but for now the iron sights are exactly what I wanted.
If anyone is looking for a solid, cheap, and damn accurate bolt action .22LR, definatly look into the Savage Mark IIs. They come in a bunch of models, including some with thumbhole and synthetic stocks.
