I recently acquired a neat little gun that would be perfect for a Bug-Out-Bag. Lately there seems to a increased interest in survival guns. My new toy is a Springfield Armory M6 Scout. These were produced for many years ad were finally discontinued a few years ago. They came in .22/.22magnum/.22hornet over .410. My particular gun is a low production # promotional gun and has a very low serial #. It is the first model springfield produced and is a .22lr over .410 with a 3" chamber and full choke. The beauty of a single shot .22 is that it can easily fire any round in the .22 rimfire family up to .22lr for my particular gun, magnums can reliably shoot anything in the .22 rimfire family. Accuracy is as would be expected from such a simple gun, and the basic peep sights won't get you match winning groups, but the gun is so light that with a good rest you should have no problems hitting small game out to 50 yards or so. The .410 can be used as a backup almost instantly of the .22 shot doesn't do the job. The hammer is a rebounding type with a 3 position selector knob to switch between the two barrels, up for .22, down for .410 and center and rotate for safety. One of the best parts of the M6 is the onboard ammo storage in the stock. Under a flip up cover are spots for 15 .22 rounds and 4 .410 shells. Even with heavy gloves on I can fire, unload and reload the M6 without difficulty. I'd like to wrap the barrels in 550 cord to give it a little more friendly feel. I carried it with me the other day on a showshoe hike in case I came upon and snowshoe hares. The temperature outside was in the single digits and even with heavy gloves on I could feel my fingers getting cold from gripping the bare parkerised steel.

Where exactly is the trigger on those? Is it not a conventional trigger, so it's that squeeze thing?
