The time has come for some factual penetration testing. In the coming weeks, I will be testing various 9mm ammunition using the WetPak Method (http://www.frfrogspad.com/wetpak.htm) described here.
I will be using discarded phone books (January is New Phone Book month, according to the ads on the radio!) soaked to the hilt, then pressed to 'dry' and compact. Brightly colored typing paper will be inserted every inch for ease of penetration depth identification.
So what do I need from you?
- What type, weight, and brand of 9mm ammunition would you like to see tested?
Example: Speer 115 grain gold-dot hollowpoints
- At what distances would you like to see testing performed? Although hilariously long shots might make for good internet laughs, I'm not that great of a shot at long distances, especially when aiming for a small wet paper targets. Lets try to stick to combat distances (1-7 yards?)
- Is there a specific pistol you'd like to have tested? By default, I will be shooting the loads with a Springfield XD with 4" barrel.
Images and a decent write-up will be included post-test.
