Too often we are bedazzled by the geometric precision provided by fresh new ammo arrayed in shiny rows. We forget that for every glistening bullet that minces saucily out of the muzzle there are thousands of less attractive versions slogging their way, businesslike, downrange. Also, good ammunition is monotonous in its consistency: If you've seen one perfectly-formed round, you've literally seen them all.

Therefore, let us post pictures of malformed, damaged, dirty, old, or just plain ugly ammunition.

Let's start with this guy:

I betcha that bullet will pull to the left!

Here is some Aussie L2A2 ammunition that was manufactured in 1968:

Note the patina on the brass from the acids in the paper. Unfortunately, this ammo is Berdan primed, not that I'd be too crazy about reusing the brass. The funny thing about Berdan versus Boxer priming is that Berdan priming was invented in the US, but is now used almost exclusively outside the US, while Boxer priming was invented in England but is now most popular in the US.

Here are some truly stubby .45 ACP jacketed semi-wadcutters. They weigh in at 185 grains and are shown flanking a round of ball ammo to illustrate their truly ludicrous proportions.

They feed every bit as well as you might expect, which is to say that mostly they don't.

Now it's your turn. Contribute, dammit!
