One of the things about the Maschinengewehr 42 (MG42), which is often called one of the best machine guns in the world, is its sustained rate of fire, so much so it earned the nickname of Hitler's Bandsaw. When fired you cant hear the individual rounds.

This machine gun was often used to pin down Allied forces from taking positions or advancing. Allied forces would often have to wait until the 300th round, which was the point where the German squad would have to swap out the barrel of the MG from overheating, to advance. Eventually the Germans started moving the gun into the fields in pairs or several sets so that while one crew swapped barrels the other crew could maintain fire.

so did I. I would love to see what it looks like for a bullet to hit a soft tissue. They could do like mythbusters and shoot a pig carcas. I hope that doesn't sound too morbid, it is purely scientific curiousity.
