Th FMG-9 is as good or probably better than anything I can think of, even by itself. I would probably Mock it up like a book and inscribe "DON'T PANIC" in large friendly letters on the side, as a stylistic touch. Keep it on a book shelf nearby or in my laptop case, where I normally keep books I'm reading.
I like the Discrete Rifle Bag from Cavalry Arms. Looks inconspicuous enough (note: you pack the AR as its upper and lower halves). You guys know I'm all about being as low-profile as possible in any SHTF scenarios.

Sometimes the best way to stash a cache of freedom is to not use a traditional weapon. As anyone who has watched Walker Texas Ranger knows, any object within reach can become a very lethal weapon. A way to take that a step farther is to modify an object to fully extract it's lethality. What I have done in the picture below is take an ordinary household broom and highly modify it piece by piece into a extremely dangerous tool for zombie/blue hat destruction. I know it may be hard to tell from the exterior but much time and money was spent hand modifying this broom so that it can be easily employed as a zombie apocolypse self defense weapon. The best part is how I have managed to maintain it's common broom appearance. My wife has been sweeping with it for weeks has no idea of the power she holds in her hands.

Sometimes after a long day I like to sit and read, ya know? Just me and a good book or two. I've also come to realize that while I am wrapped in the embrace of an outstanding novella that my guard is down should the Fed-Ex guy, Milk Man, or misguided yute saunter into my home.
But I'm prepared. Not sure if you can see it in the photograph you may have to stare at it for a while to see it.

Even in the midst of an apocalyptic environment, there are times when we are required to dress more than casual. How then should we arm ourselves when the occasion is of a more formal type? I'll tell you...the AT4WG. The AT4WG is an 84-mm unguided, portable, single-shot recoilless smoothbore anti tank wine glass capable of destroying even the most armored zombie carriers. Somewhere out there, James Bond is jealous.

please don't ask me how I have an AT4.....what AT4?

Oh yes, there is more.
What do we do when we have to evacuate our strong hold and seek refuge in the wilderness?
That's right, we grab our bug out bags. Raise your hand if you do not have a bug out bag......you are already dead. Raise your hand if you DO have a bug out bag......guess what? It sucks. I hate to break it to you but it is full of needless supplies and pointless crap. A proper bag only needs three things.
Enter the "attack sack"....
http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z93/markquimby82/PRE_2010-04-08-214738.jpg
As you can clearly see, it has the three essential attack sack items:
1.) an AK-47
2.) a piece of pizza
3.) a motorcycle.
A man's home is his castle, but it's not a fortress. Many people give up on the idea of armoring their home or creating bunkers within because they're unaware of the number of common household items that may be used for this purpose:

We've all seen horror/escape movies where one of the castmembers falls down, gets pinned under something, or gets a horrific paper cut. Right at that moment comes the famous line, "You guys go on...without me...I'll hold em' off". Yeah well grannys seen that movie too and shes vowed that she is NOT leaving the house or nursing home.
I propose the mobile mobility SHTF mobility mo-bile device (MMSMMD):
http://230grain.com/images/rsrh/shtf_walker.jpg
As you can see it features:
Ambidextrous dual handgun configuration.
Shotgun for close range work.
Rifle for holding the perimeter.
T.P.
The T.P. is there because if its hitting the fan, or the back of your drawers you deserve to be clean. As a sidenote this should also clear up the roll facing forward or roll facing backwards argument. :loco:

The idea is from a new company called 'Distraction Tactical'. DT allows the operator an additional .9 seconds draw down time as it provides a reasonable distraction to perpetrators infringing against ones sovereignty.
Going to patent the technique pretty soon. Here is a color sample preview:

Alright, most of these posts have featured high quality if not low-tech approaches to post apocalyptic scenarios. I would like to add something a little more tech savy to the equation. Nothing is more high tech than unmanned vehichles.
This is the RC-UM-ATV (Radio Controlled UnManned Anti Tank Vehicle.) It is still in the prototype phase but I'm confident that with a few more late nights and a couple six packs of Sapporo I'll have it up and killing zombies like a champ.

Jungle Warfare School Fort Sherman Canal Zone I was surprised by the individuals that failed to complete the school. So the SHTF scenarios typified with the living off the land concepts is problematic. Of importance are food, water, shelter, and (first aid/medical/medicine). As an individual, me, myself, and nobody else concept has nettlesome aspects the group concept maybe more realistic. That said when SHTF occurs it may not be your day to survive.
Weapons - A bolt gun in the “Scout” configuration with metallic and optical sights with synthetic stock - in .223-Rem- short fluted barrel with 8” twist and notched receiver with clip slot. Pistol a Glock G17 with 3 magazines.

Ever the stalwart companion, TactiCat has volunteered his services in a role outside of normal insect and mouse perimeter control:
http://230grain.com/images/rsrh/ammo_cat/ammocat.JPG
It was decided that the cat would be trained to retrieve ammunition between lulls in the firefight.
Though he lacked opposable thumbs, but not in duty or dedication, a team of design engineers came up with a specially designed Enhanced Ammunition Retrieval System (EARS).
The system allows the cat to roll around ammunition stores and attract said ammunition to itself, at which point he would return to the front-lines.
Prototype image 1 - Declassified:
http://230grain.com/images/rsrh/ammo_cat/ac1.JPG
Prototype image 2 - Declassified:

http://230grain.com/images/rsrh/ammo_cat/ac3.JPG
Prototype image 4 - Declassified:
http://230grain.com/images/rsrh/ammo_cat/ac4.JPG
It should be noted that if captured by enemy forces, TactiCat has embedded tiny fibers allowing him to subdue his captors by means of hives, sneezes, and itchy watery eyes.
TactiCat thinks things through.
