What should I do with a broken safe?

I have one of these (http://www.dactec.com/store/detail23c7.html?cart=11939422311342&sku=ATV2003C&itemCategory=safes). After five years of daily usage, the electronic auto-locking mechanism has broken, leaving only the key functional. Naturally, this disqualifies it from its role as a quick-access safe beside my bed and I will need to get another.

This leaves me with a big chunk of metal that locks up and is accessible with a key. Because of the key requirement, I can't use it for anything requiring speedy access, like caching a handgun downstairs. Storage of small valuables is accomplished by the top shelf in the big safe although, admittedly, moving those to the small safe would free up valuable shelf space.

What zany and interesting ideas can you come up with for my dilemma?

Some kind of a proverbial boating accident be sure to declare most of your arms including the long arms.

Leave it in plain sight in the bedroom with $50 in it. This way you can use it as a 'Drop Safe' to distract any would be thieves from the real safe that you have simply thrown a Hello Kitty comforter over with some kids toys strewn about in front of it so they think its only presents for a kid. The 'drop safe' will save the day.

Use it mounted above a door frame with a pull string. This really works, trust me!

My realistic options:

Keep it in the bedroom to store cash and jewelry or CDs and Bonds, etc. I would have the mechanical locking portions of the safe checked prior though.

Gun safe for the garage or behind the house. Its a quick spot for you to disarm as long as you have the key with you. A secondary key hidden somewhere nearby would also be a good option.
