Meet my new carry piece; it's a Kahr K9. This one is the K9093N, which means that it has the 'matte' stainless finish and night sights.

Here, I hope you can get an idea of the width of this pistol. On the left is a 2 3/4 inch 20ga shell, and on the right is a AAA battery. (That's all I had handy for comparison).

The 'K' pistols have a 3.5" barrel. Here's a shot of the the meatsicle fit.

And one more with mag loaded and a spare for comparison.

This is the all-steel framed 9mm kahr. Magazine capacity is 7, and the pistol came with 2 as ordered from bud's. Fit is generally good. An interesting anecdote about the fit on these is that the slide rides over the top of the lower dust cover where there are no rails, and you can just baaaarely see daylight through there. Finish is also generally good, with just a few spots of 'chatter' from the slide machining (the slide is supposedly machined from one piece of steel) on the inside where it won't matter, and a few tiny spots in the outside slide serrations. This is a carry piece, and I really don't care what it looks like.

What it shoots like, however, is a different matter. I definitely care about that. The trigger is smooth and even, with a long, light-ish pull (for a DA), no slack and a crisp break. This has got to be my favorite non-SA trigger ever. I tested one of the poly framed 9mm Kahrs at my range the day before I ordered this one, and it was a soft-shooting (i mean recoil) 9mm. I do not mind a heavier carry piece (I'm stepping down from an all-steel 3" 1911), and I figured the all-steel framed 9mm would be even softer. I was correct. Recoil and control for follow-up shots is a piece of cake. Also, the bore is a bit lower to my grip than my 1911, so flip isn't a big problem. I have 300 rounds through it with one sort of stovepipe FTE (don't know what happened there) early on. It's fed 50 rounds of Speer and Hornaday hollow points without issue. During break-in, I was tearing the center out of the smaller slow-fire pistol targets at 25 feet pretty effortlessly with this guy for about 150 rounds before I started getting lazy with my grip and sight picture.

I've ordered an MTAC for it (shipped Friday!) and a Galco USA holster for it. I've been carrying IWB in my 3" 1911's USA for the past few days and have really enjoyed the slimmer profile. With a settable cant holster, I'm expecting the grip to be hidden securely in my (slight) spare tire. This thing is a real treat for a carry piece and is a hell of a fun shooter to boot. I can't be happier about it.

Nice gun. I used to carry one before moving to a Hi-Power, and was always impressed by the look and feel. Try the Goncalo Alves wood grips with checkering available for the K9; they're very nice if you like wood.

Nice purchase. A few guys that I shoot with have Kahrs, its been awhile but I do recall them being easy both to conceal and shoot. Pretty nice you got the night sites on it as well.

I read the title, and then I read you first sentance. I though you were intending to carry one of those abominations with the custom steel GLOCK frames married to the factory slide.

The Kahrs seen very nice, and I'd like some more range time with them in the future, as a contendor for carry gun once I leave Maryland. I had the opportunity to shoot a PM45 once, and it was quite nice. Lots of recoil, due to the small size, which left my palm embossed with the very prominant checkering on the backstrap which was a little uncomfortable for the range, but I'll take grippyness over comfort were I to need to use a gun to save my life.

I carried a Kahr 4043 for a number of years. I ended up selling it to bump up to a Dan Wesson Classic Commander Bobtail. The CBOB is still pretty easy to conceal, but not as easy as the Kahr was. The Kahr just disappeared on me when I carried it. My only gripe was that there were a few sharp edges that annoyed me. That problem was easily rectified though. $40 to the gunsmith and I had a great, very concealable carry piece.

I went from a Kahr to a 1911 and, strangely, the 1911 just seemed to carry better for me. I don't know if it was the flatness, the length of the barrel, or what, but it just seemed to conceal better than a gun that size had any right to.

Kahrs have great triggers, but the grip size was always just a bit too small for me. I could hold it just fine, but after prolonged shooting it made my hand shake.
