I dedicate the spirit of this thread to Clinotus and sza, who have inspired new found levels of jealousy in me through their 460 brotherhood.

For those of you who may somehow not already possess this information, I inherited a fairly large sum of money in January 2007. For reference, prior to this inheritance I owned the following, in order of purchase:
1) Remington 870 Express 12ga (Purchased Mar. 2005 for the outstanding sum of $340)
2) 1921 Mosin Nagant M91/30 (Purchased Apr 2005 for the princely sum of $79 from Big 5)
3) Yugo SKS M59 purchased on sale from Turner's in Jun of 2005 for $179 on sale.
4) Ruger 10/22 Carbine, purchased on impulse alongside the SKS for the stupid price of $199.
5) Mauser Kar98k, purchased from Krausewerk for $230 in Aug of 2005.
6) Lee-Enfield No.4 Mk.I*, purchased simultaneously from the same place as the above for $250.
7) K31 purchased as a favor to a friend for $100 sometime in Nov-Dec of 2005.
2006 was a quiet year for me. I was embroiled in school and a certain treacherous video game and paid little heed to guns.
8) Ruger MkII Target, my first pistol purchased on my birthday in Jun of 2006 for the outrageous sum of $400.
9) Sig Sauer P226 W.German, purchased on a whim for a steal from a fellow goon in Aug 2006 for $400 as well.

So. 9 guns going into 2007, actually 8 since I sold the K31 a few months after buying it for the same price. I also bought a Mosin M44 for $45 and sold it a couple weeks later to a friend so that doesn't count. And so the madness began!

Gun A - Springfield Armory 1911A1 Loaded .45ACP in Black Stainless.

http://www.guns-for-hire.com/tfrpics/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=457&g2_serialNumber=2

I bought this gun in January, within 5 days of inheriting the money. I'd had my eye on it for awhile and had always loved 1911s since the day I burst forth from the womb. I had thought it utterly unattainable but suddenly, hey, easily affordable. Looking back, I should have noticed the oddly heavy trigger and picked a different model off the shelf, and the Black Stainless is a little ostentatious but it's a straight shooter and with a little work, might become the truly awesome gun that a 1911 is supposed to be. It cost $815 on the price tag.

Gun B - M1 Garand .30-06

http://www.guns-for-hire.com/tfrpics/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=453&g2_serialNumber=2

I actually bought this the day before the 1911 but picked it up the day after thanks to CA so it comes second. I had the Russian, German and British rifles of WWII covered and at the time the rumor mill was churning out constant predictions that the CMP would run out of Garands within the month. The price tag on this thing, $600, made it a pretty easy call since the rifle appeared to be in great shape. It can shoot relatively straight if the rear sight isn't self adjusting and I'm not being a faggot too. Got this from the previously mentioned Krausewerk as well in the closing days of January.

Gun C - Remington 700 SPS Tactical .308 Win

http://www.guns-for-hire.com/tfrpics/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1364&g2_serialNumber=1

In February of 2007 I was struck by the realization that, while I liked having rifles around, WWII ones especially, shooting with iron sights was pretty dull, I was pretty bad at it, and I had very little experience with scopes. And so I embarked on a mission to remedy that, unfortunately with almost no personal knowledge. I tapped the forums for info and came up with some useful stuff - primarily from Miso-Beno. I bought the SPS Tactical, one of the first to hit the market, for $650. Scope and rings came out to about $60 and the Nikon Buckmaster that adorns it in this photo ran me $250. The gun itself was a gunbroker auction, brand new, and all the accessories (including the $90 Harris Bipod) came from Bud's. I got a sling and some butler creek flip-up covers later but who cares about that.

Anyway the rifle shoots alright. If I'm being honest I'll admit I'm a pretty bad rifle shot. I saw someone else shoot it sub-MOA so I know it can be done, but with the price of .308 and the fact that I have semi-auto guns that shoot it, I don't shoot this rifle hardly enough to claim proficiency with it yet. If I had to do it all over again I definitely would have gone with an LTR, since that is just a better gun for a measely few hundred bucks more, but oh well.

Here is a more modern picture of the rifle with the Leupold VX-III that now adorns it:

Gun D - Babies First AR15 aka 16" RRA Midlength 5.56

http://www.guns-for-hire.com/tfrpics/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1189&g2_serialNumber=2

AR15s are way awesome and radioactivelego had tried to pressure me into buying one in 2006 when it was still illegal enough to be cool to him but I had no money then. McMadCow jumped on the bandwagon pretty quick though and I finally got to shoot one thanks to him. One gun show later and I was hooked. I believe the date for this gun lies sometime in March though I know I put the paperwork down on some other guns first. Stag lower with LPK installed set me back $175, upper was $550 and then random other miscellaneous parts (like the goofy fake Aimpoint in that picture) brought the gun up to right about $950 all told.

And let me tell you (Fang) this gun has been awesome. One of the most impressive guns of all the ones I've bought this year and hands down my favorite rifle of all the rifles I own. It's light but not too light, it's reliable (though less so after 800+ rounds without being cleaned) and it's accurate to boot. Just a fun all around rifle to shoot and .223 is still relatively inexpensive. I love how the midlength rifle handles and by now I've probably spent more on it than any other gun.

Gun E - Yugo M70B1 AK47 Clone 7.62x39

http://www.guns-for-hire.com/tfrpics/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1355&g2_serialNumber=1

This gun came to me thanks to the efforts of the new defunct and much maligned Muldune. $430 out the door though it took him a month and a half to get it to me thanks to various cartoonish and comedic shipping inefficiencies. (Did I mention his name is like Skaad Virjolk or something preposterous) The only thing I have done with this gun is slap on a pistol grip, bullet button and sling. I have also shot it probably for a total of 200 rounds in its life, none of which have occurred in the last 6 months or so.

I like assault rifles, they look cool and are cool. The AK is a great world renowned reliable concept and I like the way it looks. I do NOT like the way it feels though nor do I like how it fires nor do I like its bland iron sights. I felt my collection would be incomplete without one so I got one, but I almost never shoot it. I've never tried to shoot it for accuracy so I have no idea how good it is. I can say I had trouble hitting a steel plate at 100 yards reliably which I normally have no trouble hitting. Still, it has never jammed (except for one sza-witnessed spectacular failure) and it seems quite robust, if poorly made. I kind of want an AK74 just to help complete my caliber lust but that's a long way off.

Gun F - H&K USPf 9mm

http://www.guns-for-hire.com/tfrpics/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1361&g2_serialNumber=1

Got this in April 2007 or thereabouts for $550, which included the surefire rail depicted above but not the TLR-1. I recognized the fact that, due to their ubiquity, polymer framed pistols must have some merit. After evaluating every possible polymer framed pistol that ever was and ever will be, I decided the USP was the best and bought it. Also it helped I found a good deal from a private seller locally.

My initial impressions were that it sucked ass compared to my P226, the grip dug uncomfortably into my hands and the trigger felt mushy for what is, out of the box, a $900 pistol. My opinion today is that it is the best pistol I own, though not my favorite. It has never experienced a failure of any kind in about 1-2,000 rounds (neither has the TLR-1 for that matter, and I never take it off the gun) and I am more accurate with it than I am with any of the pistols I currently own. I put some new sights on that still need to be tapped into place properly so it is temporarily inaccurate, but that's my fault. A USP Match trigger and a Hogue Hand-all addressed all my concerns.

Gun G (G for GUN) - S&W Model 28-2 .357

http://www.guns-for-hire.com/tfrpics/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1358&g2_serialNumber=1

This one is all Fang. His many threads and words of advice taught me something I already knew. Specifically, I needed a revolver like my lungs needed air and my eyes needed to blink or I would cry. A deal popped up locally again for $475 and so saved me from paying more than I wanted for a 686. I got my beefy blued .357 Magnum and proceeded to throw a never ending supply of .38spl down the barrel, chased by some weak ass .357 cowboy loads from the gun show.

In time the gun's immense size would wear on me and it would eventually go to a better home (though not before breaking the hammer spring, oddly enough) but while I had it, it served me well, proving the superiority of the single action S&W trigger above all comers.

Gun H - Norinco "Hand Mangler" JW-2000 12ga Coachgun

http://www.guns-for-hire.com/tfrpics/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1352&g2_serialNumber=1

A friendly visage that highmeh should carry with him for many a year, this piece of shit cost me $250 from Ade's of Orange in Orange County. I stole it from some layaway ass hole who will never know the favor I did him. Long story short, the gun would disassemble itself if the action was snapped open too hard, after firing the action would have to be smacked against a table to open, and eventually the left hammer refused to stay back, causing the gun to fire when you were still in the comical position of bringing it to your shoulder. It's terrible and I don't want to talk about it any more. Suffice to say I no longer own it.

Here is a picture of my 870 to drown away the sad thoughts.

http://www.guns-for-hire.com/tfrpics/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1192&g2_serialNumber=2

Gun I - Enterprise STG58c FAL 7.62x51

http://www.guns-for-hire.com/tfrpics/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1349&g2_serialNumber=2

Once I found out about the FAL, I mean really found out about it, I knew I had to get one. I missed a deal on one early in the year due to cowardice, but finally nutted and dropped 10 crisp $100 bills into the hands of a sweaty short asian at Ade's of Orange to procure this lead slinger. FALs are sort of scarce in CA so I don't feel too badly about the purchase, though a nicer one did come up a month later for quite a bit less.

The gun itself plagued me with problems at first, because I accidentally dropped some screws into the trigger group the night I got it, like a dumb ape. I eventually managed to mount it's bipod and SUIT scope which was probably my first gun related physical triumph, thanks to the able instruction of Nightops. It shoots alright, sort of hard to tell thanks to the SUIT's unstable mounting system. It is loud as all hell but the ergonomics are wonderful. Plus it looks goddamn amazing in its current final configuration, pictured below. This finished up my first buying spree, some time around June of 2007 and I thought I was done. I wasn't.

Here is the FAL in current configuration:

http://230grain.com/images/rsrh/FAL.jpg

Gun J - Arisaka Type 99 7.7JAP

http://230grain.com/images/rsrh/Arisaka1.jpg

This is what an $85 rifle looks like. I can even proudly say it is not my cheapest gun. It doesn't fire though (broken firing pin) but it does look the part of a historic relic. I got this sucker from Krausewerk, making it the fourth gun they had sold me and all told I'm still happy with it even though it fails at its primary purpose.

I can't say how it shoots for obvious reasons but I can say the one box of ammunition I bought cost half as much as the gun itself. The rifle itself is apparently from the Tokyo Nagoya Arsenal manufactured in 1939 or 40 most like. Who knows, maybe a wiley nip used it to snipe away at your grandfather!

Gun K - SVT-40 7.62x54R

http://230grain.com/images/rsrh/SVT40.jpg

Here is pictured what I hope will remain my most expensive impulse buy. Saw it on the rack at Krausewerk when I went to pick up my Arisaka and couldn't help but put the money down. All $900 of it. Both the Arisaka and this gun were purchased in August of 2007. It's a 1941 issued rifle in beautiful shape, likely refinished by the Soviets at some point.

As for firing, it shoots straight, as Rontalvos can attest, though it does stove pipe occasionally, possibly needing a gas system tuning or a new recoil spring. The gun is a beauty and I'd love to slap a scope on it eventually to make it more fun for myself personally.

Gun L - Springfield 1903 .30-06

http://230grain.com/images/rsrh/Springfield1903.jpg

The 6th gun Krausewerk successfully conned me into buying, this one for $500. Again, a rifle with a 1911 receiver in great condition with a wonderful 1944 pristine bore. The action on this rifle is smoother even than my commercial Remington 700 I'd say, the trigger is the best of the milsurp bunch and the little character traits it has (an ON/OFF switch and a Ready switch) just about make up for the inflated price. This is definitely a gun I thought I would regret buying and don't.

As for how it shoots, well I'm a bad shot and the thing appears to be "zeroed" for a minimum distance of 200 yards but next time I take it out, I'll try to give it a serious trial. I love just fooling around with this thing and I'd be happy to recommend a 1903 to anyone on the fence about them.

Gun M - Fabrique Nationale SLP 12ga

http://230grain.com/images/rsrh/FNSLP1.jpg

This is an expensive shotgun! I shot DeathyMcDeath's out in the desert and fell even more in love. It just looks sleek to my mind and an autoloading shotgun is something I wanted for awhile. Something else I wanted for awhile was an EOTech, but by then my AR15 already had an ACOG on it so I didn't really have a reason to buy one. Until my friend suggested slapping an EOTech on the SLP and so its current configuration was born.

While it does disrupt the sleek lines of the gun, I still think it looks cool and it's great for putting slugs on target at 100 yards or for shooting a rousing game of trap, both of which I have done with it. The SLP and EOTech together ran over $1000 but I'm still happy with the end result.

Since I mentioned it, here is my AR15 almost as it is now (I replaced the extremely underwhelming Magpul MIAD with a Hogue pistol grip and removed the sling)

http://230grain.com/images/rsrh/ACOG.jpg

Gun N - Sig Sauer P226 Equinox .40S&W

http://230grain.com/images/rsrh/Equinox1.jpg

I have very mixed feelings about this gun currently. I came to buy it because I had been cock blocked on a great deal on one a month earlier (bought this around the end of September) and I wanted a gun I could shoot IDPA and IPSC with in the service class. My current P226 would have been perfect except it had a tendency to FTF occasionally. Then I found the P226 Elite at a gun event and fell in love, only I wanted it to be in .40S&W to satisfy my odd caliber lust. CA foiled me there and I ended up settling for the Equinox when I found one new for $900, thanks to some wheeling and dealing.

Accuracy wise it's great, as long as I am concentrating on not flinching to .40 or .357 Sig recoil. The trigger isn't as nice as my old P226 and I regret selling that thing down the river every day. I am finding the Equinox styling a bit tacky and if I could do it over I'd either find a way to get an Elite or just stuck with my original P226 and been happy. That said, it isn't a bad gun and I still take it with me any time I shoot pistols at the range. The fact that I can swap in the .357 Sig barrel any time I want is pretty awesome too.

Gun O - S&W Model 19-5 .357 Mag

http://230grain.com/images/rsrh/SWModel192.jpg

I saw this sitting on the used rack in a local shop and fell in love. I was tired of the immense size of my N-frame .357 by then and realized immediately that a blued K-frame was perfect for my purposes. At least I did when I saw it. $550 was not at all a great price but I was willing to pay it, and I managed to recoup that price with the sale of the Model 28 so nothing was lost overall.

The trigger on this thing is even better than my old Smith, it's wonderfully accurate and everything about it just fits the "revolver" bill in my mind perfectly. It's really great, you should come over and try it.

Gun P - Ruger Vaquero .45 Colt

http://230grain.com/images/rsrh/RugerVaquero.jpg

Highmeh knows exactly why I bought this thing. A Cowboy Action Shooting Society booth sucked both of us in at a local shooting competition and a burning desire was left behind in our wake. When I found it for $400 in a local store on consignment I snapped it up, and it is quite a looker.

As far as shooting, I find it's really hard not to have the thing pull to the left, the trigger could use a bit of work and the sights are rudimentary at best. For twirling on your finger or for shooting black hatted villains on TV though, it can't be beat. I'd also like to give some attention to Ruger's beautiful Rosewood grips which look really nice in person. Also .45 Colt is a big mean looking cartridge even if it isn't ballistically.

Gun Q - Sharps Carbine .45-70

http://230grain.com/images/rsrh/SharpsCarbine.jpg

Any swinging dick who wants to lay permanent claim to his pecker and other dangly bits had better put his hand to a .45-70 as soon as his wallet will allow. I knew I'd get one eventually but I figured I should reserve the lever-action slot in my collection for a .30-30, that abominable caliber that makes no sense in anything else. And so, after watching 3:10 To Yuma, I spotted the gun for me. sza had prattled on to me about these things earlier but having seen their $1,000+ price tags, I'd paid little heed (though I got mine before him lest he ever forget, here is a digital record). However a $650 price tag for a used one was something I could live with, and am living with.

For whatever reason this thing has the absolute heaviest trigger pull of any rifle I have ever fired, though the kick is really nothing to worry about. Swinging down the falling block after a shot gives one a marvelous view of the gunsmoke slowly dissipating from the barrel. If you ever shoot a falling-block rifle, try it out. What the hell is that little ring on the side for also, some kind of crazy man's sling?

Gun R - Springfield Armory M1A Loaded .308 Win

http://230grain.com/images/rsrh/M1A.jpg

Here is the gun I spent the single largest amount of money on in my collection, besides maybe my main AR15. Found the rifle itself for the fun price of $1100 used, got the Leupold LR/T that adorns it for $600, I think, and then some rings, some mags and a USGI stock I ordered from fredsm14stocks sometime during the Korean War that should get hear in time for World War IV.

The rifle itself is more fun to shoot and more easy to be accurate with than my Remington 700, despite not having as nice a trigger. It is heavy but I don't plan to be hauling it around anywhere and it is the single largest reason I wish .308 prices would plummet back down from the lofty heights where they currently reside. Buy M1As all ye who look upon these words, and know that in your hearts, ye shall rejoice.

Gun S - Browning Auto-5 12ga

http://230grain.com/images/rsrh/Auto51.jpg

This gun ended up being "cheap" by my regular standards, and it would fall into the category of impulse buy as much as some of my other guns. What I should explain is that I have a giant list of all the guns I want to own some day in my head (which includes more guns than it excludes) and when I have money and see one of the guns on my list for a good price, I buy it. The price for this one was $350 so I slapped the greenbacks onto the barrel head.

The finish is a bit prone to rust, something I need to get on and stop being lazy about, but this gun has been my primary trap shooting gun for the last two weeks. I have high hopes for myself eventually reaching human scores with it, as opposed to the scores normally reserved for children, pregnant women and the blind. It kicks a little harder than I expected but is pointable and fun to shoot.

Gun T - JLD PTR-91 7.62x51

http://230grain.com/images/rsrh/PTR91Build.jpg

As may be apparent to you if you are of sufficient mental capability, this rifle is currently in a non-functional state. What you see before you is a $600 collection of parts that will someday amount to a functioning G3 clone, once I have the other $600 I'm going to need to pay to have it built. I love .308 and I love all the major rifles that shoot it, so I knew I'd get a G3 eventually. I didn't think it would be a PTR-91 but my hopes are high.

The rifle itself shoots wonderfully in my imagination, where it is adorned with a fancy G3 claw mount and some kind of future ACOG that can see through walls.

Gun U - Beretta 92FS Centurion 9mm

http://230grain.com/images/rsrh/BerettaCenturion.jpg

This fine piece of Italian design was my final impulse purchase. I should note that guns J through U were all purchased between the end of August and the beginning of October, most within a two week time period. I went temporarily insane, I can make no logical account for my actions though I am not entirely displeased with the result. My excess may eventually lead me and maybe even sza as well to financial ruin but until then I shall grin triumphantly as I gaze upon a closet chock full of guns.

Anyway, this is a Beretta, it cost me $300 and some Wolf ammo. It shoots well, better than I would expect from a Beretta though it still comes in as low man on the totem pole compared to my other fine hand guns. I like the looks, hate the safety, like the recoil, mediocre the sights and ambivalent the rest.

Finally here comes some 230grain exclusive content which I have only posted 500 times to IRC and 0 times to SA!

Gun V - AR15A1 Colt 5.56

http://230grain.com/images/rsrh/AR15A1.jpg

This is essentially a hand built Colt SP1, made by me to further flesh out my US Service Rifles collection that I arbitrarily decided to built to justify my purchase of the Springfield 1903 a few months back. The upper + BCG + stock cost me $325 from a random guy on arfcom. The lower is a Nodak-Spud A1 lower which costs $175 and is exactly the same as any other damn lower but it's CA legal. The mag came courtesy of Rontalvos and the sling was stolen from my other AR15.

The gun itself functions, something I'm proud of since it was the first AR15 I put together unsupervised by an adult. It shoots high and I don't have a front sight adjustment tool nor the will to break open the receiver often enough to reload it, but it's an all around pleasant rifle. I see why people like full length 20" AR15s now, they have a certain "rightness" to them that is hard to describe. I've always been a lover of triangular handguards too, so that helps.

Gun W - CMMG AR15 M4Gery 5.56

http://230grain.com/images/rsrh/M4gery.jpg

Another gun justified under the ZenMastaT Service Rifle's Act of 2007, this came about thanks to a stellar sale down south at Meproshot that saw CMMG upper being sold at cost. Which was I think $400 for a 1:7 twist 14.5" permanent flash hider A4 style upper. I found a Stag lower at City Arms, a Stag parts kit and M4 stock at internet and an Aimpoint Comp ML2 and Larue mount, also at internet for about $1000 all told.

This gun also works, something I am proud of. The Aimpoint does it's job, though Aimpoints have always been my least favorite of the CCO type optics. I'd like to think the gun does a good job of visually impersonating a Colt M4, at least from a moderate distance. I must admit the photograph above is not current as the gun currently sports Daniel Defense Omega rails and a KAC VFG. Once Sky Shark sends me my Pelican light that will go on there too, and maybe some kind of laser because I am a joker who likes to spend hundreds of dollars on stupid ass jokes.

Anyway, those are all the guns I have bought so far in 2007, and now that I finally have a job, I can confidently state that I should have guns X, Y and Z before years end.

Here is a family photo sans the two newest AR15s. Sorry for making such a long thread, if you just skimmed it and looked at the pictures you have done what I would have in your shoes.
