View Full Version : Have you changed your buying habits or planned purchases with all the panic buying?

At first I denied the panic buying was going on, then much like a deer in the headlights watched it approach far too quickly. Still, I decided to not join in the rush and do my purchases as normal. However visiting the fun shop the other day and seeing bare shelves and finding no ammo I'm wondering now if I should just suck it up and start purchasing.

I've moved some long term purchases way back and other things like ammo, magazines, and some accessories are topping the list. I'm hoping the panic dies down, but at this point with some prices dropping it seems to be the new market.

I am not at the point where I would consider maxing out a credit card, but I am at the point now where if I see something I will snag it because I know it wont be there long enough for me to second guess it.

How about you?

I don't think I've changed any purchasing habits, except that on one occasion I bought 200 rounds of .223 when I noticed it was available instead of waiting--since I knew I wouldn't be able to get any otherwise. Beyond that, it's pretty much business as usual, except that when I list something for sale I now add the phrase, "...before Obama bans it!"

And it sells like hotcakes.

You've found actual ammo?

.45ACPLove stealthily walks the isle closest to the ammunition counter, he suspects that he is within feet of the mother lode. He blades his body at a 45 degree angle in order to deflect advances from other unseen hunters and to catch the ammunition by surprise...should his quarry even be there. Step by step by step he approaches, spotting a clerk in the distance... It is there. He can see it, he reaches slowly into his pocket to retrieve his means of capture, his hands tremble in anticipation, the rush of the capture dowsing his system with adrenaline, trembling he cannot grasp the billfold, the credit card slips from his sweaty fingers.

In the distance he spots another, this one is crouching in the distance attempting to ambush the clerk, he too sees the mother lode... the hunters spy each other from across the divide, only one of them shall be victorious this day...

hahaha that was awesome. there's some chain of stores that just showed up here locally. it's kinda like a target but all sporting goods. guns, knives, camping, running, golf, fishing etc etc etc. they usually have better deals on ammo than the gun shops. thats where i got that 5.56. fucking .40 was $30 for a box of 50!!!! thats more than my beloved .45 auto.

on another note, i had all 4 wisdom teeth cut out this morning. this blows

Update! I'm finally starting to find bulk .22 on occasion. There's another buying habit that changed--previously, I wouldn't stop at Walmarts and Big 5 sporting goods stores compulsively in the hopes they had boxes in stock.
