So today I went to the range to try out a brace of new-to-me 1911's
All targets shot at 15 yards, two mags each, rapid fire.
Aim point was 6:00 on the circle of the "0".
All pistols are full size 5" barreled.
First up the results of my usual carry gun a S&W1911Sc;

For some reason I'm always high and to the left.
Then I switched to a Colt 1991A1;

This one was having feeding issues with the original magazines and the flyers happened after the FTF's. Guess I lost my concentration.
Feeding issues were resolved with Wilson magazines.
Lastly I let fly with a generic S&W 1911, carbon steel frame & slide.
This one is set up as a target pistol, trigger's light.

The flyers were doubles. I was riding the trigger trying to get a feel for the reset when she doubled on me. Twice. :eek:
Other than that, I'm in love.
1911's; The disease for which there is no cure. :rolleyes:
Just the acquisition of more 1911's. :cool:
gUn pRoN tomorrow. http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p169/twiggman/Smilies/fce32f95.gif
Nice shooting. 1911s aren't the answer; 1911s are the question. "Yes" is the answer.

I chuckled at the 'brace of 1911's'.
I so need to get one again, Para soured me on the POS SSP I briefly owned. I am thinking of a Colt or a Kimber, may likely get a SA.

My new-to-me babies;
My lil' pony; Colt M1991A1, series 80.

The trigger breaks at almost five pounds, just a tad heavy for my taste.
I was very comfortable shooting this pistol.
Next up is the nicest shooting 1911 I own, a S&W 1911 two tone with target sights and an ambi safety.

This trigger breaks consistently at 3.5 lbs and after letting a few friends have a go with her the phrase I heard as they described the trigger was "Breaks like a glass rod". :cool:
I'm not crazy about the carbon fiber grips though. I'll have to take a look at Esmeralda's latest offerings and get something special for this one.

Very nice!
Dennis,
The triggers on those were sublime. As clost to zero take up and zero overtravel as as I've ever experienced. Really incredible. Did you find out from the seller who did the triggers?

The Smith is really nice I think.
Can't wait to get the Colt back from State Line. :cool:

Para will do that. I know more dissatisfied (former) Para owners than (current) satisfied Para owners. I guess thats what we get for letting Canadians try to build a 1911.

You'd better not be ashamed. 1911s are sexy beasts that every red blooded American should own.

Miso, I need a cigarette. That's some purty PrOn there. :p
I recenetly had a fresh set of Trijicon's installed on the Colt.
Got her back yesterday and went to burn through a hundred rounds at the range.
Nothing special for ammo, mix of UMC 230gr fmj and M&M 230gr rnl reloads.
The results of three mags at 30 ft;

I'm used to my S&W1911Sc so I took up a six hold.
The Colt shoots right over the front sight. Me likey. :clap:

I'm pretty proud of my mixed 1911 family, but I think it could really use an early production Colt to round it out.
