Gamo Carbine Sport - .177 Caliber Air Rifle

*Those tree rat bastards are on the encroachment agenda again and this time we're taking it up a notch, since the standard pellets from The Tactical (http://230grain.com/showthread.php?t=65001) simply amuse them.

Here is the Air Rifle in all its beauty:

-Velocity: 800 feet per second (fps) with PBA Alloy
-Single Shot

-Barrel: Precision Rifled Steel
-Trigger: Second Stage adjustable
-Manual Safety

Comes with a fairly good scope:

To load you break the barrel open, place your ammo in the little hole there and close the barrel. It is now loaded, which brings us to the

Safety:

Forward for fire, backward for safe.

The chart:
Velocity|Shot
645.0|Shot 1
699.7|Shot 2
521.7|Shot 3
513.2|Shot 4
549.0|Shot 5

Score|Place
513.2|Lowest
699.6|Highest
585.7|Average
186.5|ES
82.41|SD

Not so bad. The main variation in the velocity was from operator error as I shot each shot on different angles, which is reflected by the lower scores.

*No wildlife, tree rats, stray cats, birds, dogs, or errant kids crossing my lawn were harmed, injured or maimed during and after the making of this thread. I did yell a few times at said cats, tree rats, kids, and inadvertently my Mother-in-law, so some feelings were hurt, but no maiming. This time.

I shot one of these recently. It's kinda fun. The kid had on it a laser too...

Everything is improved three fold with the addition of a laser.

What a nice air gun.

On an other note, this statement is priceless:

"Everything is improved three fold with the addition of a laser."

That can apply to almost everything on the planet, except maybe bacon.

It looked at first like the safety was a double set trigger; I was astonished at how cool that would be on an air rifle. Pretty awesome regardless. Springer air rifles are great practice; I spent hours with one in the lot behind my house as a kid, making holes in soda cans.

Try using Crossman Destoryer pellets. When I fired them out of my Gamo Shadow Sport (1000 fps, 1200 fps w/ PBA), They would go straight though a half inch of plywood and keep on trucking. No other pellets would do that. As far as performance vs squirrels, one shot was easily worth one kill if placed properly.

Come to think of it, I still have a pelt from one of the buggers. Oh, and if anyone asks... squirrels taste almost exactly like chicken wings.
