Ladies and Jelly Beans, welcome...
I recently swapped my DPMS Panther Lite 16's old school A1 upper for a flat top. I took it to the range and BZOed my back up sights and then installed and BZOed my 1-4x24 scope. It was a miserable experience due to the heat/the humidity/the crappy range conditions/the limited time to sight them in/how off they were to start with/the sun in my face/the gulf oil spill/Pelosi's perpetual yeast infection/ect...When I finally got it all sighted in as required, I asked myself, what should I do now? So I did what any sane man would do and completely disassembled the weapon, voiding any zero it held and Duracoated the upper and lower receivers, gas block, and barrel a super flat LCW Extreme Gray. I thought that the black and gray look would be super sexy...uh, I mean, very mission specific and tactically camouflaged for suburban combat....errr....anyway, and it came out great. I know SOME of you clowns don't like Duracoat and you are wrong, of course....but many men and women have sacrificed to give you the right to be wrong without persecution so I'll let it slide. Here are some pics. enjoy.
(Oh, and as always, forgive my photographical worthlessness)
Step One, strip and tape. I didn't sandblast the parts, just use a gun scrubber to remove any dirt or oil.

Step two, Duracoat, duh. I applied five very thin coats as to make it strong but incrementally so that it didn't fill any factory stamps in. I also applied four coats of ultra flat clear coat to further protect from scratches/rust

Then reassemble and gawk.

The end....for now.
