This is the crown on the barrel of my brand new S&W Classics Model 29:

The damage is at about the 11 o'clock position. it extends into the edge of the rifling. It appears that the dents were there before the barrel was blued.
This gun is brand new and unfired (by me, I'm sure it was fired at the factory). I noticed the damage while doing the initial cleaning after bringing it home.
Do you guys think this damage is likely to hurt the accuracy? Being that it extends into the rifling I'm thinking it will.
Should I take it to the range and see how it shoots or just immediately send it back to S&W for repairs?
